#fridayflash – The Last Days of Summer
There used to be a story here, all for free, but I ripped it out and shoved it inside a Kindle book with a bunch of other stories. You can buy it for less than a dollar by clicking the banner.
Regards, Stuart “The best things in life are free, but little stories about suicidal snowmen no longer are, sorry” Millard.

Oh, this was powerful!
Lulling us all with the vivid details of a summer scene: the families, the beautiful young girls, the music, the gathering of people…of life.
Then, the unexpected end of their world at the hands of a self-appointed messenger from God.
Strong stuff.
Thanks, Marisa. Glad you dug it.
Left me speechless for a good 5 minutes. When I read the word “detonator” after that beautiful picture you painted my eyes just about popped out of my head! Nice work.
Cool. Great descriptions of the scene throughout that could stand well on their own – the girls like cats, the bohemian aunt.
Wonderful sense of a glorious 4th of July (presumably?) and then…. whack. Great stuff.
The subtle foreshadowing really makes this piece. All descriptions of a beautiful sunny day and people enjoying it dotted with negative thoughts of the narrator. Still, the reveal was like an explosion in itself. Very well done.
