I do think that TV, artistically speaking, was at its best in the 60’s, 70’s and (some of) the 80’s, yet not every programme was an impeccably crafted masterpiece, and this programme was definitely not a masterpiece. I think it was forgotten the day after it was broadcast perhaps, typically glossy and overblown LWT variety fare, with the channel’s usual reliance on over-amped sound and canned laughter from the studio audience, who were probably as unimpressed as the watching TV audience. Bland, dully paced with awkward performers and contrived jokes and songs, I cannot recall seeing it and hope I didn’t, as it would not have put me in the festive mood. PS:What flavour was the soup, per chance?
Cock-a-leekie.
(great comment, I agree with every word)
Thought that was the flavour, glad it wasn’t Pee (sorry Pea) and Ham…
