The other day I was reading the reviews of the disgraced funnyman’s big West End 2003 comeback show (which closed after four performances). Charles Spencer of the Telegraph crafted the most impressive opening line:
“LIVE! On stage” proclaim the posters for Michael Barrymore’s attempted comeback in the West End, which certainly seems preferable to being, say, “DEAD! In a swimming pool”. But, after almost two hours of this terrible show, one of the most mortifyingly embarrassing I have ever witnessed, even that judgement begins to look suspect.
